India Mongolia joint military exercises in Belgaum

Mongolian Army which aims to taper the counter insurgency skills for UN peace keeping missions will conduct a joint military exercise along with the Indian Army at Belgaum.

38 personnel from the Mongolian army will participate in the 10 day exercise starting from August 6, 2012. Codenamed as ‘Nomadic Elephant’, the exercise will focus on the needs of peacekeeping missions under the UN flag and will help in increasing the coordination and understanding between troops of the two nations.

44 specially selected personnel from the Jat regiment will also take part in the exercise.

first joint exercise between the two nations was held in 2004 and then India and Mongolia held two-week long military exercises, called Nomadic Elephant, which ended on 19 December 2010 in Belgaum.
