The Belgaum Chamber of Commerce & Industries along with all associations of Belagavi along with all other District Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Karnataka have called for the One Day KARNATAKA BANDH on 22nd June-23.
They have request all trade and Industry (Except emergency services) to keep their establishment closed on Thursday 22nd June and support our agitation. This is to protest the abnormal price hike in the Electricity charges by HESCOM/BESCOM/ GESCOM/ MESCOM/ CESC KERC, in its tariff order dated 12.05.23, has approved a very large increase in the fixed and per unit charges.
KERC has approved charges much higher than what was asked by the ESCOMs. They have also changed the method of calculation of FAC by which the FAC has more than doubled for the consumers.
Over the past few days, we have been expressing our disappointment with the huge electricity bills received. We have approached officers of HESCOM and DC and submitted memorandum to take back the increased electricity bill. FKCCI has taken the matter to the Energy Minister and the Chief Minister too. But no response is received so far.
Under the new tariff not only Industry and Trade but even the common man is greatly affected. The businesses and industry is forced to pay an additional 30% to 70% as compared to previous month bill. Every household has received a bill that is double of usual bill amount. We are therefore forced to call for this bandh on Thursday 22nd June to draw the attention of the Government to our plight.
Our request to the Government is to roll back the hike in electricity tariff and also restore the old FAC immediately.
Requesting all the Trade & Industries to observe one day Bandh and joint he Protest Rally on Thursday 22nd June 2023 At 10.00 am From Dharmveer Shambhaji Chowk to DC office.
To fulfill false promises Government is resorting to hiking electricity bills, increasing the taxes for no fault of public. Tomorrow it will be public transport by doubling the rates on gents to compensate free rides for ladies. Public suffering will be more for coming five years.
Bjp hiked electricity rates on 12th May 2023 ,a day prior to election results wherein bjp was completely decimated.
Huge increase in fixed charges is unacceptable.
