Over 250 laborers in two groups were stopped by the police near Belagavi and were shifted to safer places where they have been quarantined.
One group was housed in a hostel of Social Welfare Department at Nehru Nagar and another at a Morarji Desai Residential School hostel near Halbhavi.
These workers employed in Bengaluru region have arrived in Belagavi city on Sunday in search of shelter and food.
The workers are upset with the food being served to them and demand only chapatis and rotis instead of rice and dal being served to them. As chapati and roti are their staple food, most of the migrant labourers refused to eat rice.
The laborers comprised of people of different ages, including women and children.
The laborers were requesting the authorities that they be allowed to go but the district administration denied it and said they will have to stay here for the lock down period and all care would be taken.
