Turai ki subzi, Udar Palya (mutton sukka), Hagalakai palya (bitter gourd), Bharleli Wangi, Jawar Bhakri / Sajji roti, Methi Bhaji, Pithle, Gehu kheer all these are some of the loved local delicacies cooked and served in this part of the country in most of the homes.
But what if we told you that, these local delicacies are now being cooked at most lavish kitchens in town by the local Lady chefs from Kakti village which houses the Fairfield by Marriott Belagavi.
To both empower women and give associates a chance to live the core value to serve our world, the Fairfield by Marriott Belagavi has set up a program for local women to manage and serve in the employee dining room.
Currently, there are four women that have been working for six months and everyone is happy to see them each day. Their training has included cleanliness, ordering food and supplies, and raising requisitions, and they have learned all their duties wonderfully well.
Love is a key ingredient for these women and employees can feel that! Because it’s been such a hit for employees, the Fairfield by Marriott Belagavi has decided to bring the chefs to the guest restaurant for a 15-day local food promotion.
Sumit Gunturkar, Asst. Food and Beverage Manager said, In recruitment drive where 1200 candidates approached us for the Job, Shantavva one of the ladies approached us for cook’s position and under our core values “Serve our World” we decided to run our Employee Cafeteria under them. Now we have four of them working here, they are part of our family.
Shantavva Matador, Shamsher Pathan, Renuka Pendari & Yallavva Patil are lucky Lady chefs who will cook lip smacking local dishes for the guests.
Pallav Singhal, Manager at the hotel said,
We would like to convey a message that if each one of us decides to employ local community specially women we can together empower the local community to enhance their standard of living and to give them better future. In Marriott we are committed to “Serve the World”.
Great Initiative… Women Empowerment shall play a vital role in the days to come and uplift the women population as a whole…
