ADOCATE

Advocates burnt the effigy of CM Siddarmaih today at Chennamma circle. The advocates are demanding the setting up of a Karnataka Administrative Tribunal bench in Belagavi. Lawyers have been on dharna at the premises of court, demanding the establishment of Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) in Belagavi.

Yesterday the advocates had rampaged the DC office on the same demand and have boycotted the work for the past 4 days.

The advocates, who boycotted court proceedings, have decided to go ahead with their indefinite agitation till their demands are met by the state government.

In the month of July, advocates had sat on dharna in the premises of district in-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi’s residence in Hanuman Nagar. Dharna had only withdrawn after the minister assured about bringing the issue to the notice of the CM.

The biggest district with three revenue sub-divisions, two educational districts and eight district level courts, Belagavi district with over 50-lakh population has highest number government employees. Thus, government must establish KAT in Belagavi.

There should be a better way of putting your demand forward and not by boycotting the court or burning an effigy. Will this serve the purpose indeed ? Strange to see lawyers do such a thing. Having said that they (Lawyers) have done it earlier on different occasions in different cities and have taken Law in their hands.
