Life sentence for murder of his wife and three daughters

Srikant Shivaputrappa Aralikatti (28) was a pronounced life sentence after he was convicted for murder of his wife and three daughters by the 5th Additional District Sessions Court headed by Judge Basavaraj S. Chegaraddi.

Srikant, a native of Hireangrolli village of Khanapur taluk had married to Savita from Tigadi village of Bailhongal taluk in 2006. He begot three daughters from her. He had developed an illicit relationship with another woman of same village, which his wife often questioned only to be beaten up and tortured by the husband. On Oct.18, 2010, put kerosene on Savita and his three daughters and set to flames while they were asleep at their house in the village. Though Savita, who was pregnant then, and her three daughters were rushed to the district government hospital, they succumbed to injuries. However, Savita’s statement was recorded by the Khanapur police, in which she wished stringent punishment for Srikant.

Srikant was convicted under Section 302 of IPC and sentence life sentence with a fine of Rs.15,000 and two years incarceration and Rs.10,000 fine under Section 498A of IPC.
