In Belagavi, Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Venkatesh S Majumdar was found to have assets totalling Rs 2.21 crore, including two houses (on in Sahyadri Nagar in Belagavi), a gas storage godown, agricultural land, and valuable ornaments.
On Tuesday, the Lokayukta officers searched the offices and houses of three government employees in Belagavi. The search and verification of documents continued until Tuesday night. Officers also raided the houses and offices of Vitthala Davaleshwar, the village accountant of Boragaon village in Nippani taluk. Lokayukta sources said they recovered over ₹1 lakh in cash. Another house was searched.
He was facing charges of carrying cash of ₹1.1 crore from Belagavi to Bagalkot a few months ago. He was stopped by vigilance officers at a check-post in Ramdurg.

(a) Value of Immovable Assets- 1 House, 4 Acers Agricultural Land, In all Valued Rs. 1,00,50,000/-
(b) Value of Movable Assets- Rs. 1,55,195/- Cash, Rs. 3,02,049/- worth of ornaments, Rs. 3,45,000/- worth of Vehicles -In all Valued Rs. 8,02,244/-(c) Total Value – Rs. 1,08,52,244/-

(b) Value of Movable Assets- Rs. 1,42,000/- Cash. Rs. 39,31,900/- worth of ornaments, Rs. 17,70,000/- worth of Vehicles. In all Valued Rs. 58,43,900/-(c) Total Value – Rs. 2,21,43,900/-
Time and again we have observed that Lokayukta has been targeting only the lower level officials, whereas the Disproportionate Assets amassed by the senior officials seem to go unnoticed.
