Maheshwari Blind School to get state award for children’s welfare

Maheshwari School For Blind based in Belagavi will be honored with best services in the field of children’s welfare by the Kannada and Culture Department.
The award consists of a citation and Rs 1 lakh cash.

Maheshwari School For Blind was commenced on 2nd October 1978, which stands as an unparalleled institution for the blind children in the whole state of Karnataka. The School with its vast campus provides hostel, boarding, playground facilities apart from quality education, regular medical checkups, uniforms and entertainment for all its 130 inmates.

Maheshwari Blind SchoolThe 130 students from 1st to 10th Std. enjoy all the facilities totally free of Cost in a one large family like ambiance. The salubrious and congenial atmosphere of the campus coupled with the friendly and affectionate attitude of the trained teachers is conductive for the growth of both physical and mental faculties of the children Skilled, qualified and dedicated teachers impart education through Braille Script to ensure all round development of the blind children and to Exhibit their latent talents. They 6 are taught music and are encouraged to participate in various curricular and extra curricular activities. We are very proud to mention that the group and team of blind children have won many prizes both at District level and State Level competition and have exhibited unusual skills in vocal and instrumental classical music. To make the children steadfast and independent in current times they are given computer education by adopting specialized procedures including online training.

Student are trained in Sangeet, Vocal and Instrumental by our trained Teachers, Besides this they are appearing for Sangeet(Hindustan Sangeet) Examination every year conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, Bengaluru. Most of the students are appointed as music Teachers in Government and Private Institutions.

  1. How can I contribute to this wonderful institution? I am back to Belgaum in the month of March 2019, I wish to gift something to the kids and I can afford up to 500 USD from my personal capacity. I will try to get some donations too, but not anticipating much on that.
