Today the Belgaum Chamber of Commerce & Industries submitted the memorandum to The Commissioner, Belagavi City Corporation, Belagavi regarding Trade License and Renewal of Trade License.

The Belgaum Chamber of Commerce & Industries received several complaints from the Trading sector regarding Belagavi City Corporation officers being forced to take Trade License to all the Traders.

In this regard, President Shri Rohan Juvali said The chamber of commerce is for strict implementation of trade license as per KMA 1977 wherein it is clearly mentioned the applicability of Trading License to particular trades and not in general to all the traders as the corporation presently demanding and collecting. We are attaching herewith the provisions under section 353 under schedule X wherein clearly the list of trades that needs to obtain the trade License has been defined and prescribed.

Similarly under the Profession tax act section 30 it is clearly mentioned that once the person who is registered under profession tax need not pay any other local tax (Corporation tax on profession) which we traders are paying every year. We are attaching a copy of the same to support our demand.

Also, the bring to your kind knowledge that industries and trades which are registered under MSME are not liable for getting registered under trade license, copy of the same also had been attached, earlier MSME was confined to industries only, but recent amendments have included traders also under MSME so obtaining a trade license again doesn’t arise.

The trades are already burdened with the post covid slump in the business and are under loss due to two consecutive year closure of business during peak season time

Presently corporation is collecting Trade License fees from all the traders within corporation limits, which is in violation of the above three acts.

President Shri Rohan Juvali along with all the members requested the Commissioner to kindly instruct their Officers not to visit any Traders shops to implement forcibly the Trade license till the Diwali festival and also requested to conduct a meeting with all the traders after the Diwali festival to clarify the doubts regarding trade license.

On this occasion President Shri Rohan Juvali, Sr Vice President Shri Hemendra Porwal, II Vice President Shri Sachin Sabnis, Hon. Secretary Shri Prabhakar Nagarmunoli, Joint Secretary Shri Swapnil Shah, Trading Committee Chairman Shri Rajendra Mutgekar, Taxation Committee Chairman Shri Rohit Kapadia, & other Managing Committee Member & Trade members were present.
