FIR filed against 25 MES members for holding protest march: u/s of EPIDEMIC DISEASES ACT

Taking sumo to action the Camp Police station has filed an FIR against 25 persons who have been named and 150-200 anonymous persons under various sections including the A EPIDEMIC DISEASES ACT.
FIR Filed under the following sections – IPC 1860 (U/s-143,147,283,149); THE KARNATAKA EPIDEMIC DISEASES ACT, 2020 (U/s-4,5(1),5(3),5(4))


On October 25, Marathi-speaking people protested demanding all the rights under the linguistic minorities to be adhered to by the state Govt like all forms and other documents be given in Marathi along with Kannada.


The protest march was called from Dharmveer Chatrapati Sambahji Maharaj Circle to DC office where a memorandum had to be given.

On Friday Deepak Dalvi who had approached the commissioner for permission for a cycle rally on Nov 1has been informed in writing by the Commissionerate of Police that the will not be allowed, citing the epidemic act and the fear of spreading of Corona.


MES leaders however are irked that over 2,000 students and others can participate in the “Laksh Kanthadalli Kannada Geet Gayan” program. In which no one was wearing a mask but here there is no permission for the cycle rally citing corona and FIR is also filed against us for holding the protest march.
