Minister warns private hospitals who are charging more for COVID treatment

Action as per law will be taken against all those private hospitals who are treating COVID-19 and suspects but are charging exorbitantly violating the Govt order said district in-charge minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Action has been taken against many hospitals in Bengaluru and in the same way action will be initiated against the private hospitals he added.

People have complained about huge bills for treating COVID-19 more than the rates prescribed by the Govt.
Violation of the govt order will invite action against the private hospitals.

In Bengaluru D Roopa Moudgil, IPS, who, along with other members of a hospital supervisory team operating in the RR Nagar zone, had uncovered the payments, revealed that 21 patients out of the 22 have now been reimbursed. One person had not paid an advance.

The minister was speaking at a presser after the review meeting held for COVID-19 and flood situation in the district.

The state government has fixed the package rates for patients referred through SAST (insurance scheme) as Rs 5,200 for general ward, Rs 7,000 for high dependency unit (ward with oxygen), Rs 8,500 for isolation ICU without ventilator, and Rs 10,000 for isolation ICU with ventilator. For direct admissions (non-insurance) the rates are Rs. 10,000 for general ward, Rs. 12,000 for high-dependency unit, Rs. 15,000 for isolation ICU without ventilator, and Rs. 25,000 for isolation ICU with ventilator.
