A most wanted terrorist linked to the Bengaluru blast case was transferred from Nagpur jail to Hindalga jail in Belagavi on Monday night. The terrorist, identified as Akbar Pasha, was flown from Nagpur to Belagavi under heavy security.

Reports indicate that Akbar Pasha had been in communication with Jayesh Poojary, a notorious criminal currently imprisoned at Hindalga jail. Poojary is infamous for having made a threatening call to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last year, demanding a ransom of Rs 100 crore and warning of bomb blasts across the country if his demands were not met.

The connection between Pasha and Poojary came to light during an investigation by Nagpur police, prompting authorities to interrogate both men. Following their questioning, Akbar Pasha was transferred to Hindalga jail.

Currently, Akbar Pasha is housed in the Andheri (dark) cell, a high-security area designated for solitary confinement of the most dangerous criminals. Other infamous inmates in the dark cells include Bannanje Raja and Jayesh Poojary.

Hindalga jail, a facility dating back to the British era, has 33 dark cells, with around 19 currently occupied by high-profile criminals. These cells are primarily used to hold prisoners facing the death penalty or those considered a significant threat.
