Belagavi has a Cricket stadium and also a Hockey stadium would be built near the KSCA circket stadium, and now MLA Abhay Patil has envisaged an National Level indoor stadium near Yellur
The idea is to make way for other sports like Volleyball, Basketball, cycling, Gymnastics,wrestling, boxing, table tennis and athletics and many more sports.
MLA Patil has already visited the Indoor stadium in Pune a couple of times to know what all can be included and has envisaged a Indoor stadium of National level near Yellur village as per sources.
Some where around 40 acres of government land has been identified for the said project and it would be constructed in collaboration with the state and Central Govt.
The plan is to encourage other sports and provide state of the art facilities for the sports persons so that they will win more laurels for the nation in the time to come.
Well !! It was about time,a sports -minded personality in the form of a politician Shri Abhay Patil ji,MLA of Belagavi, has risen to cause of developing more sports complexes like an Indoor stadium on National lines at an identified place near Yellur. Rather than these dead spaces what we really need is basic amenities like quality roads, parking space., more coverage of public transport so as to have smooth traffic and better access to wash rooms, drinking water and effective garbage disposal so as to avoid loss of life and to promote good health.
