Today, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavraj Bommai, inaugurated the newly constructed Commissioner of Police office at the City Police Lines next to RLS College Belagavi.
The Foundation stone for this 17 crore project was first laid out by Bommai himself when he was the Home Minister of the state on December 1, 2020.
The Police Commissionerate for Belagavi was made operational on August 1, 2014, with IGP Bhaskar Rao as the first Commissioner of Police.
However, the Commissioner of Police did not have an office of its own from the start and was instead housed in the SP office. Plans to shift the office to the half-built Police Gymkhana building at Sangolli Rayana Circle were also made, but ultimately did not come to fruition.
The inauguration of the new Commissioner of Police office marks a significant milestone in the history of Belagavi.
