Belagavi’s in-charge Superintendent of Police (SP) Amarnath Reddy has warned sternly against drunken driving and triple seat riding on bikes during New Year celebrations. Speaking to reporters on Monday, he emphasized that stringent action would be taken against violators to ensure public safety.
To maintain law and order during the festivities, over 1,000 police personnel, including five Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) units, have been deployed across the district. Checkposts have been set up at prominent tourist spots and other key locations to monitor activities.
The SP highlighted specific concerns, such as individuals creating disturbances by making noise under the influence of alcohol or riding motorcycles with three or more passengers. “CCTV cameras have been mandated at public venues, and additional staff have been directed to monitor areas with swimming pools to prevent untoward incidents,” he added.
Authorities are urging citizens to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year for everyone.
They should also check on bikes with loud horns as well as running bikes without silencer with very loud noise. High speed driving is also a major reason for untoward incidents. Cops must try and control these riders.
