From 8PM in many parts the police were seeing whistling and asking shops to close down for the night curfew.
The curfew commences at 10 PM and is effective up to 5 AM but in places like Kirloskar on day 1, police were seen enforcing the same around 8 PM.
The night curfew will be in place until 7 January 2022.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Amathe, New Year celebrations at pubs, restaurants and hotels are banned.
Curb on all kinds of functions for the new year. No functions, parties in the external premises. No gatherings allowed.
Eating joints, hotels, pubs have only 50 % seating capacity.
Hotels/Restaurants will function with 50% of their seating capacity strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behavior. All staff members of the said entities to compulsorily possess COVID 19 negative RTPCR report and will be fully vaccinated with 2 doses of COVID 19 vaccine.
Violators will be booked under National Disaster Management Act. Public transportation, ambulance services and pharmacies will operate round the clock.
There shall be intensive patrolling and surveillance at all bordering districts adjoining Maharashtra and Kerala States to prevent the spread of COVID 19, particularly Omicron variant, in the State.
