Own a piece of Belagavi’s rich heritage

INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) is a National organization having over 200 city chapters across India. It works for the documentation, conservation, preservation and restoration of the heritage of India.

The Belagavi chapter was started in 2016 with the initiation of Dr. Jinadatta Desai and Vinod Doddanavar. Today it has over 40 members. Over the past 5 years, the chapter has organized several competitions (wherein Belagavi students have turned up national and regional winners), Quiz shows, Heritage walks, Teacher Training programs and is now in the process of listing heritage structures across the city.

The chapter has Heritage Clubs in 7 schools in Belagavi whose student members have done a commendable job.

In 2017, the chapter published its first book written by Dr. Smita Surebankar- ‘Architectural Splendors of Belagavi‘ which chronicles hundreds of heritage structures in the Belagavi district. It is a work of several years of study by Dr. Surebankar and is a collectible edition indeed.
