In a major step towards strengthening consumer rights and ensuring faster resolution of disputes, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, K. H. Muniyappa, inaugurated the Permanent Circuit Bench of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (KSCDRC) in Belagavi today. The new bench is on the third floor of K. H. Patil Sabha Bhavan in Auto Nagar Belagavi.
The Permanent Circuit Bench, established under the Consumer Protection Act, aims to provide accessible and speedy justice to consumers facing issues such as defective goods, deficient services, and unfair trade practices. Until now, consumers from Belagavi and nearby districts had to travel to Bengaluru to seek legal redress. This bench will ease the burden on consumers and promote a fair and just marketplace.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ministers Satish Jarkiholi, H. K. Patil, and K. H. Muniyappa, along with MLC Hanamantha Nirani. Chairman Ravi Shankar and other members of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission were also present.

Speaking at the event, Minister Muniyappa emphasized the importance of protecting consumer rights in a market where issues like high pricing, lack of services, and misleading advertisements are prevalent. He stated that the Permanent Circuit Bench would be a game-changer for the region, ensuring faster disposal of pending cases at minimal cost.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the role of the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as an alternative dispute resolution system, enabling businesses and consumers to resolve conflicts efficiently.
Establishing this bench, marks a significant milestone in consumer protection for North Karnataka, ensuring that justice is delivered swiftly and effectively to those in need.
