On Sunday, April 14, the vibrant literary community of Belagavi gathered at Sapna Book House for an enthralling session of poetry readings and cultural exchange. The event, Poets of Belagavi, organized by Rostrum Diaries in partnership with the Belagavi Book Club, showcased a diverse range of poetic talent, spanning multiple languages including English, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Urdu.
Founded by Abhishek Bendigeri, Rostrum Diaries aims to nurture the creative talents of the region. “Our mission is to provide a nurturing platform for budding writers and artists to express themselves and connect with like-minded individuals,” Bendigeri explained. He also highlighted the community-driven aspect of the Belagavi Book Club, which meets every Sunday and welcomes members from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds at no cost. “Reading books is one of the best ways to nurture and bring about positive change in society,” he added.
The event featured a spectrum of poets ranging from 20 to 60 years old, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the literary community in Belagavi. Among the attendees was noted author Marie Raghavan, who shared her thoughts on the importance of such gatherings in fostering literary and artistic creativity.
Organized by a dedicated team including Aishwarya Raikar, Anoop Betageri, Sourabh Deshpande, Sakshi, Sumeet Arya, Henry, Nitish Sungad, Shradha Hiremath, Siddita, Karthik, and Saumya, the event successfully highlighted the cultural vibrancy of Belagavi. The organizing team’s efforts ensured a seamless and engaging experience for both participants and attendees.
