The Belagavi Camp and CCB police recently conducted a joint operation to apprehend a notorious criminal who had kidnapped a real estate businessman and demanded a ransom. The criminal, identified as Vishal Singh Vijay Singh Chavan, aged 25, resident of Shastri Nagar Belagavi.
According to the police, the businessman was abducted on June 1, 2023, while inside his car, under the pretense of being shown a plot of land. A case of embezzlement was filed, and a special team was assigned to investigate the matter. This team consisted of Camp Police Inspector Altaf Mulla and CCB Police Inspector Nandeshwar Kumbar.
During the operation, the police successfully apprehended the accused and recovered the weapons used in the kidnapping. The investigation is still ongoing, and the accused has also confessed to theft in many areas of Goa. Prior to this incident, a total of 10 cases had been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
In another incident, the Camp police in Belagavi city arrested a two-wheeler thief named Saifil Kazim Tehsildar of Ujwal Nagar Belagavi, aged 35, and seized five stolen bikes worth Rs 1,35,000 from him. The bikes were recovered from various locations, including Ghataprabha Railway Station, Nipani Government Hospital, Chikodi Hospital, and Belagavi KLE Hospital.
Furthermore, the APMC police successfully recovered stolen jewelry worth Rs 2.5 lakhs. A complaint was filed on August 1, reporting the theft of jewelry from Raghunath Patil’s house within the APMC police station limits. The police arrested a suspect Abdul Shaikh from Muslim Galli Angol and jewelry worth Rs 1.5 Lakh has been seized from him. The accused has confessed to stealing from two other places during police investigation.
