Another disturbing aspect of the child-selling case involving a fake doctor in Kittur, Belagavi, has come to light. A police investigation revealed that fetuses were killed and buried in a garden.
Under the direction of DC Nitesh Patil, Kittur police raided Abdul Ghaffar’s farmhouse, discovering that Abdul Ghaffar Ladkhan, posing as a doctor, was responsible for the killings. The bodies of three fetuses were found on the farm, now taken into police custody for further investigation.
Authorities have detained and interrogated Rohit Kuppasagoudar, who had been assisting Ladkhan for many years. The case is under the jurisdiction of Kittur police station.
The operation was led by DHO Dr. Mahesh Koni, AC Prabhavathi Fakirpur, Bailhongal, DySP Ravi Naik, and three CPIs. Reports indicate that the five accused, including Ladkhan, targeted young pregnant women seeking abortions before marriage. They performed operations on women 7-8 months pregnant, kept the babies, and sold them to childless couples for profit.
During the investigation, the police uncovered this network and arrested the accused. It was also revealed that Ladkhan, besides selling children, had committed fetal murder.
