Prohibitory orders in Belagavi after statue disgrace issue

Prohibitory orders issued under Section 144 CrPc imposed in Belagavi city from today 0800 hrs to Sunday 0600 hrs for Belagavi police commissionerate area ( Belagavi taluka).

Last night all of a sudden protest at Dharmveer Sambhaji Maharaj circle was done against the disgrace done to the statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Bengaluru. The police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

As many as 20 vehicles, including police jeeps, were damaged in the incident on Friday night, triggering the police to resort to lathi-charge against the violent mob.

Total 3 cases registered in Camp Khade Bazar and Market police station for stone-pelting n damaging the vehicles in different places of the city.

27 accused arrested. Further investigation is in progress, the police said.

It has also come to light that the statue of Sangolli Rayanna in Angol was defaced in the night.

  1. I hope Kannadigas and Marathas understand that these acts are carried out by political parties to create unrest. No Kannadiga will ever disrespect a brave warrior like Shivaji Maharaj. No Maratha will disrespect a freedom fighter like Sangolli Rayanna. None of these political parties are interested in people or doing something for their own constituencies or state. Let’s teach them a lesson by standing united.
