On 6 February, 2015, thousands of academicians, entrepreneurs and enthusiastic youth will assemble for the fifth annual Yuva Summit, a conference focused on instilling leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship among youth at DCSE Building, Hubli. On this occasion, young college students will showcase their innovative leadership projects. Students implement projects within a vast landscape, cutting across the sectors of health, education, agriculture, livelihoods, technology and more. More than 150 higher education faculties, delegates and 1500+ students are expected to take part from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh to share their success stories and to listen to notable speakers.
In the 5 Yuva Summit young college students will be showcasing the best 60 innovative leadership projects selected out of 1200+ projects and here are a few notable ones from Belagavi –
Hydraulic kit for bikes: Niranjan Kargi from Belgaum designed a device which uses water to increase the mileage of bikes by 15 to 30%.
Air for good health: A model that reduces the soot and smoke while cooking by firewood was designed by Yuvraj D Patil from Nippani using DC motor and a charger.
Radium light for bullock carts: Santosh Patil from Jain college of Engineering Belgaum implemented an innovative idea of applying radium on the bullock carts. This significantly reduces the accidents of the bullock carts at night.
E-raita mitra: Automatic motor which can be switched on and off using mobiles was designed by of Makarand of KLECET, Belgaum.
Teaching sports to poor kids: Pavan Bajantri from Belgaum is training 15 poor kids in sports. Among his students, one has won silver in Dasara Utsav and another student has registered for cycling marathon in Chennai.
Introduction to LEAD
The LEAD Program of the Deshpande Foundation fosters innovative and entrepreneurial thinking among college students by exposing them to social issues and encouraging them to volunteer their time and effort into the community. There by, it ignites their latent talent and enables them to come up with creative solutions.
