At the general body meeting of the City Corporation Belagavi, it was decided that a fund of Rs.1 core be set aside to install the statue of Rajashri Shahu Maharaj near KLE hospital, the entrance of Belagavi city.
Mayor Bassappa Chikladani had raised this issue after the same was demanded by several Dalit organistations that a statue of Rajashri Shahu Maharaj be installed in Belagavi.
A committee will be formed for this which will overlook the installation of the statue.
Here we go again. If certain sections of the population want to install statues let them raise the funds themselves and not use tax payers money. Tax payer monies should be used for developing the city and improving infrastructure.
