Photo of author

Bittoo: Bapu.

Bapu: Yes Bittoo.

Bittoo: The government is reportedly shifting some of the offices from Belagavi and few other towns and cities of North Karnataka region to Hassan in South Karnataka Bapu. Ironically, this has come close on the heels the angry protests against perceived regional imbalances by the present JD((S)-Congress coalition government headed by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy Bapu!

Bapu: Yes Bittoo.

Bittoo: Isn’t that a sort of rubbing salt on the wound Bapu?

Bapu: Hummmmm?

Bittoo: And, what type of is this the way to address regional imbalances Bapu?

Bapu: I don’t know Bittoo.

Bittoo: And Bapu.

Bapu: Yes Bittoo.

Bittoo: I think most of the problem of regional imbalances will stand addressed once the government declares Belagavi as second capital of the State very soon as reportedly announced by the chief minister Bapu.

Bapu: Hummmmm.

Bittoo: But, the chief minister will keep up his promise Bapu?

Bapu: I don’t know Bittoo.

This is a citizen-centric new column, wherein the author(Bitto) is an ordinary, politically unaffiliated common man of the city who in his/her inimitable approach takes up various issues with the Bapu’s soul! Apparently, the interaction between them portrays ironies of sorts encountered by the common man and others in the city in a lighter vein. The author’s name will not be disclosed to the readers as he/she represents the common man of the society. This column aims at creating awareness and sensitising cross sections of our city on various issues of public concern only but in a lighter vein without holding any contempt against any institution or individual.

  1. Nice concept of bapu n bittoo…of a common man in conversation with bapu’s soul..but there is a lack of humour and sarcasm and satirical statements in the article instead it is just very plain to read…but of course the issues are highlighted!
Better just write it in a plain way or improvise the way in which the article is written…as in include more ways in which bapu would have handled the conversation…
