BJP leader Dr Ravi Patil appeared before the Market Police on Sunday (October 4) for questioning over the ongoing controversy over Form-7 applications filed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Police questioned Patil for around 90 minutes and sought information regarding the Form-7 applications and his role in the matter.
Speaking to reporters after the questioning, Patil said he had appeared before the police after being summoned and had answered all the questions put to him. He maintained that he had not committed any wrongdoing and said he had extended full cooperation to the investigation.

Patil said he had submitted Form-7 applications in the Belagavi North Assembly constituency to verify voters he considered suspicious. He clarified that he had not sought the deletion of voters belonging to any particular community.
He also said that he did not have the authority to directly delete anyone’s name from the electoral roll and that his submissions were limited to raising objections over discrepancies that he believed required verification.
โI have provided all the cooperation required by the police,โ Patil said.
Responding to reports linking hospital employees to the submission of Form-7 applications, Patil said those who submitted the forms as part of the SIR process were BJP workers and not staff of his hospital.
The questioning comes after the Market Police registered Crime No. 218/2026 following a complaint by a Booth Level Officer over allegations that Form-7 applications seeking deletion of the names of 198 minority voters were attempted to be submitted using false information and documents.
