Originally from Bidar, Desai has served in various esteemed roles, including Senior Assistant Editor at The Hindu in Belagavi, Special Correspondent in Bidar, Chief Correspondent for The Times of India in Hubballi and Bengaluru, Bureau Chief in Mysore, and Senior Political Correspondent at Vijaya Times. A graduate in journalism and law, he has gained widespread respect for his investigative work, fearless opinions, and the camaraderie he fosters among peers. Known as the “most friendly and unshakable rival,” his writings and public debates have earned him a loyal following nationwide.
Another notable recipient is Kirthi Shekhar Kasaragod, who has been awarded in the category of best reports, articles, and columns on agriculture. A veteran journalist for over 30 years, she has contributed to publications such as Samyukta Karnataka, Karmaveera, Gadinadu, Mangalore Mitra, and Jana E Din. Her insightful work on agriculture has now been recognized with an award established by Basavaraja Dodmani under the aegis of the Karnataka Media Academy.
