RL Law College to felicitate High court judges among others

KLS Raja Lakhamgouda Law College, Belagavi, one of the oldest law colleges in India and a premier institution of legal education in South India, was established in 1939 by Karnatak Law Society, Belagavi, as a part of its solemn resolve to impart quality legal education. The College is named after Raja Lakhamgouda Sirdesai, its most benevolent mentor-donor and head of the erstwhile Princely State of Vantamuri.

Since its inception, Raja Lakhamgouda Law College is doing yeoman service to the cause of legal education. It has, indeed, played a crusader’s role. Its contribution to the Bar and the Bench is, in fact, second to none.

Raja Lakhamgouda Law College is known by its proud alumni. Two former Chief Justices of India, Hon’ble Justice (Late) Shri E. S. Venkataramiah and Hon’ble Justice Dr. S. Rajendra Babu (former Chairperson, NHRC, New Delhi) have, as proud alumni, taken the glory of their alma mater to great heights. Besides, it is also home to many sitting and former judges of various High Courts. Prominent among them are, Hon’ble Justice (Late) Shri V. S. Malimath, former Chief Justice of Karnataka and Kerala High Court and former member of NHRC; Hon’ble Justice Shri S. R. Bannurmath, former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court. Padma Vibhushan Shri K. K. Venugopal, the former Attorney-General of India, celebrated Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and renowned Constitutional Law expert, is also our proud alumnus.

The contribution of Raja Lakhamgouda Law College in the field of parliamentarians is equally immense. Among others, (Late) B. N. Datar, (Late) Shri S. R. Bommai and (Late) Shri J. H. Patel, former Chief Ministers of Karnataka, are among the noteworthy alumni, who have made the college proud. Former Union Ministers, (Late) Shri B. Shankaranand and (Late) Smt. Sarojini Mahishi, two illustrious past students, have been instrumental in the success toasted by Raja Lakhamgouda Law College.

That apart, the national award-winning actor Shri Charu Haasan, national athlete Shri Arjun Devaiah and many others have taken the name of the college to every nook and corner of the country. This rich tradition is continued by our students by performing excellently during the recent selections for District and Civil Judges and recently our five alumni are sitting High Court Judges of the High court of Karnataka.

The College also persistently bags ranks to the University and generates University Blues time and again.

Karnatak Law Society’s, Raja Lakhamgouda Law College is organizing felicitation function for five of our eminent alumni who are judges of High Court of Karnataka. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prasanna B. Varale, Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka will felicitate these eminent alumni.

The function is scheduled on Saturday, 5th August 2023 at 4:30 p.m. at K. K. Venugopal Auditorium, Platinum Jubilee Building, Karnatak Law Society’s Campus, Tilakwadi, Belagavi.

Shri Anant Mandgi, Senior Advocate and President, Karnatak Law Society, Belagavi will honour Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prasanna B. Varale, Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prasanna B. Varale, Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka will felicitate Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sachin Shankar Magadum, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Venkappa Hosmani, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice K. S Hemalekha, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anil Bheemsen Katti, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramachandra D. Huddar.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Prasanna B. Varale, Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka will address the function. Shri Anant Mandgi, President, Karnatak Law Society will preside over the function and all members of Karnatak Law Society will be present on the occasion.
