Three residents of Bhadkal Galli tried to sacrifice a one-year-old girl child with the belief that they could lay hands on a buried treasure, but their plan was foiled when the neighbors complained to the police.
Mohammad Peerzade owner of the house said his former tenant Masabi Mulla and her friend allegedly tried to kidnap his daughter and kill her as an offering to the dark forces by which they would find hidden treasure. An eight-foot pit in Masabi’s house and grew suspicious that the two were up to some mischief. Also another 4 photographs of small girls of similar age was also found with Masabi.
The detained person – Shirina Jamadar – is a resident of Topi Galli in Belagavi. Police are looking for – Masabi Mulla, Javed Mulla, Faruk Mulla and Sona Mulla – who have been at large since Monday night.
The ritual of human sacrifice was to be performed by the gang on Mahalaya Amavasya, alleged residents of Topi Galli. For the last three days, the main door of the house was not opened.
The one-year-old child that the accused had planned to kill and she was taken away by Mullas on Monday morning.
Mulla’s were planning to offer at least four small children the same day as they were assured of a jackpot by an unidentified religious preacher. But the neighbour and the police came just in time and spoilt their horrific plan. A black mask, some incense sticks, oil and a lemon were found near the pit.
