Belagavi is a home to lot of educational institutions and we are very proud of them. But, more often than not, we hear about kids not understanding science and learning only under pressure of school or parents.

A group of people who were passionate about technology and education decided to do their bit and launched hacking space and a workshop for school students to make science not only creative but fun filled in order to enhance the process of not just learning but understanding this subject. Hence Science Hack Day came into existence for the first time in India in 2016.

So what exactly is “Science Hack Day”? Science Hack Day(SHD) is a two-day event where anyone excited about making weird, silly or serious things with science come together in the same physical space to see what they can prototype within 30 consecutive hours. Designers, developers, scientists, artists and anyone who is excited about making things with science are welcome to attend – no experience in science or hacking is necessary what you need is just an insatiable craving and a curious mind. The mission of Science Hack Day is to get excited and attempt to convert ideas into reality with science!

As mentioned above Science Hack Day also has Science Workshops for High school Students (7th, 8th and 9th Standard). Workshops run parallel to the main event. A dedicated team of volunteers, mainly engineering students and Scientists, will conduct these hands on workshops. These workshops allow the kids to not only learn new things with science but also sows a seed of innovation by empowering the students with thorough understanding which will help them spread their wings and prepare them for the journey ahead.

Two workshops are planned for school students this year too. The first workshop will enrich their understanding of science by making toys that will illustrate basic principles and the second workshop will introduce them to the world of soldering and electrical circuits where in they will design and get their first electric motor into existence. Exciting!!!! Isnt it ?

SHD 2016 witnessed over 170 school participants from over 15 different schools.
