When it comes to venture capital for startups, YCombinator or YC as it’s popularly known is a household name known for it’s rigorous screening and selection process. Since 2005, they have funded 1,464 startups. According to YC, it’s portfolio is worth about $80 billion 1 with more than 50 companies worth at least $100 million and several above $1 billion, such as Airbnb, Dropbox, and Stripe.
In April 2017, YC created StartupSchool.org, a 10-week massively open online course (MOOC). 13000+ startups applied from 140+ countries, out of which 2,820 were selected. Only 1,584 graduated.
Shreshta IT Technologies Pvt. Ltd. a startup based out of Belagavi is the only startup from North Karnataka along with few others from India to have been selected & successfully graduated.
Shreshta IT’s appliance product Plexus Plus is a bundled solution comprising of features in Cyber-security, Network Attached Storage & Backup and VPN. The product is being used by 100+ organisations. Shreshta IT was also chosen as the best IT startup by the Department of Karnataka IT & BT in June 2016.
Speaking to AAB, Founder & CEO of Shreshta IT, Mr. Swapneel Patnekar shared his experience,

The most important part of my experience was the interaction with my mentor Dominika Blackappl(She worked on the design of the iPhone and iPod, NASA’s Mars Rover, Seimens’ phones, and spent several years at the California-based design studio, Ideo.). StartupSchool has also been instrumental in growing my understanding and insights of running and growing a startup. “
