State Transport strike hits life in Belagavi

Bus services across Belagavi and Karnataka were severely affected on Monday as an indefinite strike called by Unions representing employees of State-owned transport corporations commenced. The Belagavi bus stand was deserted as employees stayed away from work.

ksrtc strike belagaviThe strike, called for by unions demanding a 30-35 per cent revision of salaries as compared to the 10 per cent that the State is prepared to offer.

With holiday declared today for Schools and colleges there was some respite but regular commuters could not go to work due non availability of buses.
The Autos sought this to be a great opportunity to earn more and were seen charging exorbitantly than normal.

Many were struggling to find alternative means of transport to reach their place of work.

  1. They must be suitably compensated they really work hard to move us from one place to other and if you see the rest rooms and other facilities its really pitiable for those who ply overnight buses.
