An unidentified old man aged around 60, tragically lost his life after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Chidambarnagar, Angol. The horrifying incident highlights the escalating problem of stray dog populations in the area.
Witnesses report that a group of 8-10 dogs attacked the elderly man, tearing his clothes and inflicting severe injuries, including broken limbs. The man’s body was discovered early in the morning by locals, who noted visible bite marks. “I was on my way to get petrol when I saw the body. It was horrifying to see what the dogs had done,” recounted a resident of the area.
Locals have voiced growing concerns about the unchecked increase in stray dogs. “These dogs not only attack pedestrians but also chase vehicles. I was recently bitten by one of them. The municipal corporation needs to act immediately to control this menace,” he added.
The Udyambag Police, led by CPI Dharegowda Patil, have registered a case and sent the body for an autopsy at the district hospital. Authorities have also informed local social workers to address the issue.
Residents urge the municipal corporation to take swift action to manage the stray dog population and prevent further tragedies in the area.
