The outsourced contractual employees working for the 5 years at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha (SVS) staged protest at Deputy commissioner’s office urging to provide minimum basic salary, job security and other facilities.

soudha-emp23 women and 24 men are working on contract basis at SVS from past couple of years for cleaning of SVS. They alleged that they are just being paid Rs 4,000 to 4,500 per month by the contractor while the minimum basic salary is Rs 10,000.

Workers allege that contractor was paying their salary in cash but this month he has collected all their bank passbooks and ATM cards. SMS from the bank shows a credit of Rs 10,300 salary, But the contractor is withdrawing the salary and giving only Rs 4000 to them.

The basic salary for labourer is nearly Rs 300 but we are being paid only 200 although we work from morning 9.30 to evening 6.30. Now when we inquired the contractor about the basic salary, he is now telling that no need to come on work and all workers have been sacked since then no cleaning work has happened in the SVS.
