Tewari takes dig at national media for overlooking Belgaum gang-rape, murder

Regretting that how the national media had ignored and overlooked the brutal gang-rape and murder of a college student in Belgaum on Friday, the Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today virtually had a dig at the national news channels which had failed to take any notice of it.

Tewari who is currently in Karnataka campaigning for the party there, in an early morning tweet wrote, “extremely tragic & sad the alleged gang rape & murder of a young college student in Belgaum Parts of India off the map of national discourse”.

The I&B Minister appears to be irked over the fact that the 24×7 news channels had not taken any notice of the brutal incident in which the college girl after having been raped was killed in most brutal manner with her face totally smashed and disfigured in the BJP ruled state.

His reference appears to be obvious that media have been selective in highlighting the issue as how it raised the issue in Delhi where the culprits have already been arrested while nobody raised any voice about Belgaum rape despite the fact that the police had failed to arrest the culprits.
