TiECon – 2014 on Sunday, 18th May, 2014 at Hubli

tieconThe Hubli Chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneur) is organizing North Karnataka’s biggest summit of entrepreneurs “TiECon Hubli 2014” on Sunday 18th May, 2014 at Deshpande Foundation, Hubli.

The summit provides a wonderful opportunity of the life-time for young and budding entrepreneurs from North Karnataka to know the hard efforts and rewarding experiences of successful entrepreneurs in creating and nurturing their entrepreneurial ventures. Mere listening to these entrepreneurs can kindle some new ideas of creating a successful business organization and running it an innovative way to accomplish the goals set.

The program begins at 8.30 a.m. with breakfast and round table with eminent speakers from diverse fields. The participating members can have unique opportunity to have exchange of words, ideas, experiences, achievements, difficulties, etc. with guest speakers which might ignite the passion for creating a viable business firm.

The inauguration session will be held between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. with opening remarks from Dr. Gururaj “Desh” Deshpande, President and Chairman of Sparta Group LLC. There will be a keynote address by Shri. Kishor Patil, CEO and M.D. of KPIT. His talk will highlight on how thinking differently can help one achieve goals. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession, started an IT company and scaled it to $500 million.

Between 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. a renowned marketing expert and brand consultant Mr. Harish Bijoor, CEO, Harish Bijoor Consults Inc., Bangalore will address the gathering on “How the Small can Win Big through Innovations……the Lessons I’ve learnt.” He says, ‘You don’t have to be big to make it big. Every small company has the potential to make a big by creating or innovating.’ Mr. Bijoor has a vast experience in the marketing field and has worked on various facets of marketing function.

Prof. Nandini Vaidyanathan, Founder and Mentor Carma Connect, will speak on “How Can Entrepreneurs be Creative?” between 11.30 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. With creativity being one of the major characteristic of an entrepreneur, the speaker is expected to share her views on being creative while developing an enterprise and how creativity will contribute for improved performance. She will highlight any enterprise need not be based out of US or developed world to make it big.

There will be a panel discussion between 12.15 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. on the topic “Innovating India” which will involve Mr. Aravind Chinchure, Independent Researcher on “Innovation, Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship in Emerging markets.” He will highlight one can build a world-class company based out of India. Currently, he is working as Asst. Vice President – Innovations at Reliance Innovation Leadership Centre. Mr. Gautam Morey, Founder and CEO, Sofomo Embedded Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Connected Health Devices Innovator has envisioned the “Lifeplot Connected Care Framework” that successfully realizes the unique idea of connecting medical devices to doctors and other care-givers with “unparalleled medical mobility”. Dr. Shyam Vasudevrao, President & CTO, Forus Health Pvt. Ltd. The TiE members can seize the opportunity to know about innovation happening in India and innovation that can happen.

Post-lunch session starts with parallel sessions. Between 2.30 p.m. and 3.15 p.m. there will be a power talk by Mr. Anand Deshpande, Chairman, Persistent Systems, at Deshpande Foundation auditorium on the subject “From SME to Global Corporations: Rising to the challenge”. He will highlight the challenges of a company from start to scale. Second session on the topic “Rolling with the Indian Manufacturing Juggernaut “will be held at Seminar Hall, Deshpande Foundation and the speakers will be Dr. Shridhar Lolla, Author, Consultant CEO, CV Mark Consulting and Mr. Deepak Dhadoti. Dr. Shridhar Lolla will highlight about manufacturing, quality and scaling. Shri Deepak Dhadoti will enlighten the audience on how to do high tech manufacturing based in India.

There are another 2 parallel sessions between 3.15 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. First session on “Innovation for Growth” will be held at Auditorium, Deshpande Foundation, and will be handled by Mr. Uday Ghatge, Co-Founder, Brain Chamber Group. Second session on “WE-TiE” will be focusing on women entrepreneurs and their issues will be held at Seminar Hall, Deshpande Foundation. It will be addressed by Ms. Nandini Kandalgaonkar of Vivam Agrotech, a company which works on solid waste management.

After a 30-minute tea break between 4.00 p.m. and 4.30 p.m., there will be a detailed interaction with Mr. Srikrishna Ramamoorthy, Partner, Unitus Seed Fund, and Mr. Rajneesh Menon of Microsoft SME Division. The speakers will the issue of “why, how and where of funding?” They will take questions from member-participants on topics related to funding of an entrepreneurial venture. They will share their experiences in organizing for funds for business ventures and the issues related thereto. This session will be held between 4.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. at auditorium of Deshpande Foundation.

Between 5.30 p.m. and 6.25 p.m. Mr. Parimal Merchant, Director, Family Managed Business Program, SPJIMR, will speak on the topic “2014: The Agenda and Opportunities for Family Managed Businesses” which will be held at auditorium of Deshpande Foundation. Issues, challenges and prospects in family-managed businesses are different from non-family businesses. The speaker will share his views on the topic and receive queries from TiE member participants who look for starting and / or nurturing family-run businesses.

The concluding session and awards presentation ceremony will be held between 6.25 p.m. and 7.15 p.m. and Dr. Gururaj “Desh” Deshpande will be at the helm. Like every year, this year also TiE Hubli will be presenting awards to entrepreneurs in different categories like Best Entrepreneur, Woman Entrepreneur, and life-time achievement award.
