On Saturday evening, tragedy struck at Tilari Dam when two young brothers from Camp Belagavi drowned in its waters. The victims were identified as Rehan Altaf Khan, aged 15, and Mustafa Altaf Khan, aged 12.
The brothers had been enjoying a picnic with their family, including their father Altaf Khan, mother, sister.
While washing their hands and feet in the water, the boys tragically misjudged the depth and were unable to resurface.
A rescue team from Chandgad was immediately dispatched to search for the boys, but the mission was halted due to darkness. The search will be resumed on Sunday.
