The recent announcement of a new Vande Bharat Express service between Pune and Hubballi has reignited discussions about extending the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat service to Belagavi which was in cold storage due unknown reasons from SWR. Previously a quiet issue, the proposed extension has become a focal point of public debate, with many residents and commuters voicing their support.
Minister of State for Railways, V. Somanna, confirmed in a recent press interaction that the extension of the Bengaluru-Dharwad Vande Bharat route up to Belagavi is in the works. “I have personally held discussions with MP Jagadish Shettar and other elected representatives regarding this matter. We are responding to the demands of the commuters and will make this service available soon,” Somanna said.
The minister emphasized that the decision to extend the service is driven by the needs of the people, and that it is a priority for the government. “Instead of engaging in political distractions, we are focused on delivering services that benefit the public,” he added.
MP Belagavi Jagadish Shettar also said the same and shared a letter sent to the Minister of Railways.
When 2 vande bharat can be given from chennai to mysore, why can’t one vande bharat to dharwad and another to belgaum from bangalore. Don’t discriminate kannadigas and karnataka. We have given 17 BJP MP and 2 JD(S) MP
