The CoE was inaugurated by world renowned breakthrough management expert and Chief mentor of VLCI, Padma Shri recipient Prof. Shoji Shiba and Mr.Takeyuki Furuhashi, of Japan, Chief Instructor VSME. The VLCI-CoE has been established with the objective of developing next generation Manufacturing Change Leaders (Engineering Graduates) through a unique teaching-learning process of 30%-70% of classroom teaching and industrial training. The curriculum is designed, developed, delivered and evaluated in a unique way by the consortium of both industries and academicians. The CoE will also have the objective to train the faculty and industrialists about flow management system and productivity improvement.

Prof. Shoji Shiba speaking on the occasion said that, with VLCI, they have tried to create an excellent model of ‘Skill India’ for the country’s young population. The young people of the country are increasing every day, but are difficult for them to get jobs as they lack the skills and concepts required by the industry. There is a big gap between the academia and industry. Through VLCI, we make the faculty come to industry and work with them. Later, the faculty implements the gained knowledge in training the younger generation,” he said. Prof. Shiba in his address appreciated KLSGIT for taking initiative of establishing this CoE to help the SME to improve the productivity and remarked that; inaugural of CoE is a historic moment of KLSGIT.

The inaugural function also saw the handing over of Certificates for successful VLCI team members from leading industries like TATA Motors, TVS Harita and Fehrer, and TAFE and academicians from KLSGIT.
