The Ward Development Fund has experienced a decline from 40 lakhs to 27 lakhs. The Belagavi City Corporation recently announced an increase in the development fund for ward councilors, raising it from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. However, due to the allocation of only 9.5 crores in the 15th finance commission, the amount awarded for the ward budget has been reduced to 27 lakhs.

Elected corporators had previously submitted a detailed plan to the Corporation for review, requesting a budget of Rs 40 lakh. Unfortunately, they will now have to revise their plan as the maximum allotment is only 27 lakhs.

All the work that would be taken up for Ganesh Chaturthi would be under the Ward funds only.

The ward budget is allocated on an annual basis to address local issues and ensure that necessary improvements are made.

  1. This is a outcome of all those who said let’s bring change. This change of state government has been for worst, hike in electricity bills, hike in ready reckoner rates, no focus on infra development.
