In preparation for the upcoming Winter Session of the State Legislature, the Belagavi Municipal Corporation has initiated water quality inspections in hotels across the city. This move is part of broader safety measures for the Chief Minister, Ministers, and other officials attending the session.
The inspection includes testing drinking water, food safety, and hotel wastewater management. Initially, the focus is solely on water quality. The Municipal Corporation’s Health Officer, Dr. Sanjeev Nandre, has taken charge of the operation, with water samples being collected from hotels as of Monday, December 2.

The collected samples of running water will be sent to the District Health Office for analysis. Results of the tests are expected within 72 hours.
A debate has emerged over the necessity of testing, given that officials and Ministers primarily rely on bottled water. However, senior authorities have insisted on testing all water supplied by hotels to ensure no lapses in safety.
Accommodation Arrangements for the Session
More than 80 hotels and government rest houses in Belagavi and surrounding areas have been reserved, offering approximately 2,200 rooms for the session. While cleanliness has always been prioritized during such events, this year marks the first time water quality and food safety are being emphasized.
The Winter Legislature Session is scheduled to begin on December 9, with authorities ensuring all safety protocols are in place.
