Two fighter aircraft of IAF were involved in an accident near Gwalior today morning. The aircraft was on a routine operational flying training mission. One of the three pilots involved who sustained fatal injuries has been identified as Wing Commander Hanumanthrao Sarathi from Ganeshpur Belagavi.
An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident.
Hanumanthrao’s family has a long history of military service. His father, Revansiddpa Sarathi, retired from the army as a captain, and his brother, Ravi, is a pilot in the Air Force.
Hanmantrao was stationed at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and had been flying for his daily practice when his plane tragically collided with another in mid-air, claiming his life.
He is survived by his parents, wife, two children, brother, and two sisters. Sources have informed us that his body will be brought to Belagavi by a special air force plane tomorrow, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
Rest in peace WC Hanumanthrao Sarathi!
Grateful and proud of your service.
