The Kakti Police found a dead body of a woman stuffed in a suitcase near Rani Chennamma university under the bridge in the outskirts of Belagavi on Wednesday after the Ratnagiri police informed them.
The police say that the deceased is suspected to be a girl aged 23 who was native of Nagpur, who was missing from Thane in Maharashtra.
Parents of the girl are on the way to Belagavi after which only the same can be confirmed. According to police sources, the girl had recently joined a private call centre at Thane in Maharashtra and was in touch with her childhood friends in Nagpur, and had reportedly fallen in love with one of them.
The police say the boy might have called her for a party at Ambarnath on Sunday, where she was allegedly sexually harassed and murdered by the boy and his friend. After which the duo called in one more friend with a car and asked him to drive to Belagavi as they had some urgent work. But the driver friend got a bit suspicious after he realized that the duo threw a suitcase under a bridge and he informed the police and the duo were arrested while passing Ratnagiri.
The Maharashtra police say that the duo have confirmed that they killed the girl and the driver did not know anything about the murder.
