Wrong bifurcation of wards in Hindalga Gram Panchayat

Photo of author

Residents of Hindalga, Vijayanagar and adjacent areas submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner today about the wrong bifurcation of wards in the Gram Panchayat.

The residents and voters of Hindalga, Vijayanagar and adjacent areas coming under Hindalga GP jurisdiction in Belagavi taluk have been wrongly bifurcated which has not only caused lot of confusion but also suspicion of foul play by to favour certain vested interests eyeing to capture Hindalga GP by hook or crook in the ensuing polls.

They would like to bring to your kind notice that registration of voters had been done wrongfully by listing a large number of voters from other wards in Vijayanagar ward. Similar wrongful lists of voters are noted in voters’ lists of other wards causing total confusion among the hapless voters.

Apparently, the voters, who have been wrongfully listed in other or unconcerned wards will have no idea or the bonafides of the contestants to choose an ideal and able candidate in the election.

This state of affairs due to wrongful preparation of the voters list directly defeats the avowed objectives of The Representation of the People Act, 1951. The process of conducting elections will never be fair and impartial. Such a confusing state, created wittingly or unwittingly also denies opportunity to elect representatives to elected bodies in a fair and impartial manner.

They said, they have several times approached Tahashildar in this regard in vain and hence stand before your good office for justice. We earnestly request you to take necessary measures to resolve the issue by making proper corrections in the registration of voters at the earliest by taking the local voters in confidence. A proper and correct voter list can be prepared only by taking the local resident voters into confidence and will not provide scope for such faulty lists that defeat very democratic objectives and principles of the Act.

In view of the ensuing GP elections, we once again request you to take urgent steps to rectification of the voters’ list. Any further delay would only prompt the affected voters of wards to publicly protest and launch agitation for justice.
