A case of rape of a minor girl by a neighbor was reported yesterday in Gokak and police have arrested a 25-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in Gokak.
According to the Police, the accused offered chocolates and soft drinks and later sexually assaulted her. The accused, Basavraj was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Hundreds of people had staged a protest infront of the police station in Gokak and the police also acted promptly and arrested the accused.
Police said, a few miscreants started throwing stones at KSRTC buses while the crowd was dispersing and police went in time and started videographing them and chased them away.
Case is being taken up for pelting stones at buses. Miscreants are identified with evidence and action will be taken against them.
