Youth should be partners in building strong & vibrant India:Dr. Thaawar Chand Gehlot

Indian education system is knowledge, skill & technique centric and built on a strong philosophy of “Vasudaiv Kutumbaka” (The world is one family) our education has morals, values & ethics ingrained in it said Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka as chief guest of 13th convocation of KAHER Belagavi.

The national building is possible by youth through ethical values, morals & righteous path; you are the future of tomorrow who will build a strong, vibrant India opined Gehlot. In his remarks, he highlighted that today is ‘World Environment Day’ it is our bounded duty to protect, nurture & conserve air, water, flora & fauna of nature which will in turn protect all of us he stressed. He paid glowing tributes to the founders of KLE Society, centuries ago they envisioned education as the most powerful tool to bring transformation in society. He called on young outgoing graduates to share their knowledge, skills, and support and be partners in making a strong & vibrant India.

The alumni of KLE deemed university are demonstrating their worth in improving the health standards of the community, and are involved in policy framing in India & abroad. This institution is truly fulfilling the dream of Mahatma Gandhi by taking up research in maternal, child health and enhancing the quality of medical care in the community. He also recalled his close association with Dr. Prabhakar Kore in his tenure as Rajya Sabha member. The vision, thinking & dream of Dr. Kore has shaped this university as the most sought-after learning destination in the country opined Thaawar Chand Gehlot. The Governor called on young graduates to spare their valuable time and expertise in serving the rural community.

  1. Dr. Anuja Janawade (BAMS) of B M Kankanwadi Ayurveda College bagged 3 gold medals. Dr. Anuja comes from the tiny town of ‘Benadi’ of Nippani Taluka. Her father is a small-time fertilizer businessmen and a progressive farmer, mother is a house wife.
  2. Out of 23 gold medals; 19 girl students bagged gold medals. Once again girls have upper hand in bagging gold medals.

Dr. Nitin Gangane, Vice-Chancellor of KAHER in his report highlighted that; The KAHER boasts of an advanced simulation training center which is the best in the country and the first of its kind in North Karnataka. It is equipped at the cost of Rs. 15 Crores. The state-of-the-art, Hi-Tech, Hi-Fidelity simulators offer real-time operating experiences to students and enhance their skills without jeopardizing patient safety. KAHER will venture into open distance learning this academic year. Apart from regular academic sessions, competency-building exercises like professionalism, ethics, communication skills, leadership skills, and teamwork are being incorporated into the course curriculum said Vice Chancellor.

He also brought in the point that, KAHER has upgraded to a digital-based paperless examination system & students write their examinations on a secured online portal on E-Pads (Tablets). KAHER has a very impressive list of international research collaborations & is being funded by NIH, USAID, World Health Organization, Gates Foundation, Indian Council of Medical Research, Vision Group of Science & Technology, Govt. Of Karnataka. University has a budgetary provision of Rs. 60 Crores to conduct scientific research and path-breaking studies which will transform the community. The State-of-the-art Radio-Oncology department of KLE Cancer Hospital which is being built at an estimated expense of Rs. 165 crores is functioning. With pride, Vice Chancellor stated that KAHER was successfully reaccredited with A+ Grade by NAAC in its 3rd cycle & KAHER is in proud place of Category ‘A’ by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

A total of 1451 degrees were awarded in various disciplines of health sciences including 23 gold medals for academic achievement in their respective course which also included 7 Ph.Ds, 9 Post-Doctoral (DM/M.ch), 445 Post Graduates, 981 undergraduates, 2 Post Graduate Diplomas & 7 Fellowship programs.

KLE Convocation was presided over by Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Chancellor of KAHER, Dr. V A Kothiwale, Registrar, Dr. Jyoti Nagmoti, Controller of Examination lead the ceremonial procession. Board Members of KAHER & KLE Society along with proud parents were present in the convocation.
