Pheta is the traditional turban worn in ceremonies such as weddings, festive and cultural and religious celebrations. Most of the time it is the men who tie the Pheta, but we have Kanchan Shahpurkar who is draping the Pheta for the past 5-6 years.
Kanchan who is from Shivaji Nagar Belagavi loves to do things other woman would hesitate, but she was one of the first woman member of the Jagdamba Dhol Tasha Pathak.
Kanchan loves does the draping in a professional manner and does not charge when it comes to draping the pheta of Public cultural events.
She came into limelight during the Durga Mata daud where she started to drape the Phetas.
A traditional Pheta is usually long cloth typically 3.5 to 6 meters long and 1 meter wide. The choice of colour may indicate the occasion for which it is being worn and also may be typical to the place it is being worn in.
She also goes to primary school and trains the kids how to use the sword. She also draped BS Yedurappa and Siddharamaya on various occasions.
