The 47th State Cross country Championship was held today in the city. Kiran Jadhav of Vimal Foundation had sponsored the event.
A large number of athletes participated in the event which included the States best cross country runners.
Over 1500 persons participated in the event.
Belgaum district secured the second place in the team championship events for women (8 km), Boys U-16 (3 km), Girls U-20 (6 km), Girls U-18 (4 km) and Men’s 12-km category.
SDM Sports Club, Ujre, won the team championship in women’s category (8 km).
YSC, Bangalore, and Chalukya, Badami, secured the first and the second places in Boys U-20 (8 km).
DYSS, Vidhyanagar, Bangalore, secured the first place in the Boys U-16 (3 km) category.
Alwas, Moodbidri, won the first place in the Girls U-20 category (6 km), Girls U-18 (4 km), Girls U-16 (3 km) and Boys U-18 category (6 km).
