Revision in passenger fares of railways to be implemented from 22nd Jan

As per the Railway Board’s directives, the Passenger fares revised will be implemented with effect from 22nd January, 2013. The revised Passenger fares are as under:-

  1. Second Class Ordinary (Suburban) 02 Paise per KM No change (existing-10 kms)

  2. Second Class Ordinary(Non-Suburban) 03 Paise per KM No change (existing-10 kms)

  3. Second Class (Mail/Express) 04 Paise per KM  50 kms

  4. Sleeper Class 06 Paise  per KM No change  (existing-200 kms)

  5. AC Chair Car 10 Paise per KM  150 kms

  6. AC 3-Tier 10 Paise per KM  300 kms

  7. First Class 03 Paise per KM  No change (existing-100 kms)

  8. AC 2-Tier 06 Paise  per KM No change (existing-300 kms)

  9. AC First Class 10 Paise  per KM No change (existing-100 kms)

The minimum Fare chargeable will be Rs. 5/- (Rupees Five Only). On revised basic fares which shall become effective from 22nd January, 2013, development charges shall not be leviable.

The revised fares will also apply to tickets issued in advance for journeys to commence on or after 22nd January, 2013. In the case of tickets already issued at pre-revised rates, the difference in fares and other charges on or after 22nd January, 2013 will be recovered either by TTEs on the trains or by the Booking/Reservation offices before the commencement of Journey by passengers.

To facilitate this, South Western Railway has decided to open exclusive booths in front of Ticket Collector’s Office manned by the TC/TTE’s from today i.e. Saturday, the 19th January, 2013 onwards, who will collect the difference of fares duly issuing a receipt (EFT). Such Special counters will be set up at Hubli, Dharwad, Londa, Belgaum, Ghataprabha, Vasco-da-Gama, Gadag, Hospet, Bellary, Bagalkot and Bijapur railway stations. The passengers are requested to avail the facility and pay the difference of fare in advance failing which, the same will be collected during their journey in train.
