Chitnis Herwardkar kick off Royecton memorial cup with victory

The first match at 2:30 PM  was played between G G Chitnis School and Madni High School. The match began well and both teams fought equally hard. Rupesh Nesarikar of Chitnis School opened the score of the match in the 6th minute. By the end of the first half, Chitnis School were leading 1 – 0. In the second half, Dhiraj Choudhary of Chitnis School scored another goal in the 28th minute. Chitnis School won the match 2 – 0.

In the second match at 3:30 PM, M V Herwadkar School played against Bharatesh School. Herwadkar School played skillfully and the Sourabh Varagiri scored the first goal of the match for Herwadkar School in the 19th minute. In the second half, Herwadkar School stepped up the pressure against Bharatesh School and Kushal Kutre scored another goal for Herwadkar School in the 25th minute. Herwadkar School seemed to be showering goals on Bharatesh School with two more goals going in at the 26th and 28th minutes, both scored by Shrihari Ughade. In the second half, Bharatesh School fought back hard and managed to score a goal by Shubham Goni in the 38th minute. Even though Bharatesh steopped up their game it was not enough to stop Shrihari Ughade from scoring another goal in the 46th minute. Omkar Sutar of Herwadkar School scored the final goal of the match in the 48th minute. Herwardkar School won the match 6 – 1.

The third match at 4:30 PM was played between Bensons High School and Phoenix Public School. Bensons School clearly had the edge over Phoenix Public School by outplaying their opponents a number of times during the match. The first goal of the match was a corner-kick that was converted by Tabishahmad Shamsher in the 19th minute. Both schools fought hard and a special mention of the Bensons goal-keeper Prasad Mangutkar is due for the numerous saves of the goal attempts by Phoenix Public School. In the final moments of the match that kept the crowd tense Phoenix Public was able to score a goal in the 46th minute through Atik Chinchanikar. The last match of the day ended in draw 1 – 1.

Tomorrow, Friday, 26th July, at 2:30 PM Love Dale Central School will play Dnyan Mandir High School. At 3:30 PM, KLE School will play Madni High School and at 4:30 PM St. Mary’s High School will play Bharatesh High School. All matches for the Qualifying Round will be played on the grounds of Islamiya High School, Camp.
